My name is Chris Musil and I get a thrill out of taking pictures. This blog showcases some of my photography with an accompanying story.
Right now I am based in New Orleans, LA but some photos are from Virginia.
Grace Potter - FloydFest X
This is one of my favorite pictures I’ve taken of Grace Potter for many reasons. The lighting, her facial expression, the position of her arms, the stage lights in the background all show her majestic, ethereally presence.
I believe either the band’s rendition of Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit” or “2:22” was playing, both of which are slow and built up as the songs progress. Grace’s dancing along with the lights that night and the current weather (it had just finished raining) made this show the best I had ever seen.
Grace Potter and Matthew Burr - Grace Potter & the Nocturnals - Bonnaroo 2011
This was the third time I had seen GPN and they get better and better every time. Not only is it solid music but it’s a solid performance - Grace had the whole crowd moving and swaying with not just her vocals but with her slinky dancing.
A lot of my photography is about people showing emotion, which is why I like concert pictures. Grace Potter takes the cake when it comes to emotion during music.
